Wedding Hairstyles & Hairstylist Tips Dunbar WV

Wedding UpdoSummer is here and that means weddings! You want to look your best for what may very well be the most important day of your life so far. That usually involves finding the perfect wedding hair. Here are a few tips on how to achieve the best bridal hairstyle:

1. Try your preferred hairstyle out before the day of your wedding

Even if you’re absolutely sure you’ve found “the hairstyle” that you’ve just got to have, you’ll want to try it out first by coming in for a trial session. You don’t want to wait until the day of your wedding to find out that the beautiful bridal updo that you want just doesn’t suit you. This could be for many reasons. The style may better suit a different face shape. Hair length and type also have to be taken into consideration. Styles pictured on someone with thick hair may not look as imagined on someone with fine, thin hair, and vice versa. Maybe the style just isn’t you.

If you’re planning on a bridal portrait shoot on a different day than the wedding, you may be tempted to use this day to try your hairstyle out. This isn’t recommended for the same reasons that you don’t want to wait until the day of your wedding to try out a new hairstyle.

If you try the style out ahead of time and find that you don’t like the style after all, you’ll have time to find a different style that will suit you better.

2. Bring a picture with you, if possible

Misunderstandings sometimes happen, but clear communication and a picture can go a long way towards making sure that you get the perfect wedding updo. For instance, “curled” has a different meaning to different people. To some people, curled may mean a curly updo or simply curly hair, while others may be just wanting their ends curled up.

3. Dress it up

Jeweled clips, combs, and veils really help to make even a simple updo look elegant and beautiful. Many brooches fit this purpose well and can usually be added with the help of a bobby pin. Floral hair accents can help to create a pretty look perfect for spring and summer weddings. Make sure to try these out when you come in for your trial session.

4. Don’t say it’s fine when it’s not

Your stylist wants you to love your bridal hairstyle. The sooner you say that it’s not working for you or you need modifications the better.

5. Don’t get your hair cut right before your wedding

Depending on your hairstyle, it’s usually best to get your hair cut about a month or so before your wedding, but at least one week prior. It’s also not the time to try a dramatically new haircut.
